Day 1

Our first full day at the Grace house allowed us to go to 4 different temporary housing units.
We split up into 3 groups and two groups went to two different units in the morning and then after lunch two groups also went to two different units.
On our way to the first temporary housing unit.
Most of the participants were older women in their 70-late 80s.
We met in the community room that was lavishly decorated with pictures of volunteers and crafts and art.
They loved the handbells that we played with them.
As well as the smores.
The ladies loved Aiko.
Many women came out to see us, all with smiling faces.

We also sang songs, had tea, played bingo, and listened to Doug's testimony.
The women responded very well to the testimony and some had tears in their eyes.
The view of the housing units from the outside.
The second housing unit we visited.
Here we also used the bells.

As well as made s'mores and tea, and sang.
Tami gave us all handmade bears.
Many of the women were skilled at sewing and Janice especially connected with them.
Just eating the leftover s'mores.
This time we listened to Janice's testimony. She had decided to change her testimony last minute and said later that she truly felt the Holy Spirit giving her the words to reach the women. Here they also responded very well.
This housing unit was bigger and had a larger group of ladies.
Overall we were very welcomed and accepted in the housing units.
Thankfully it was very sunny with the exception of some light showers.
